-It’s a one time thing-
Less than three weeks after Chase moved to Houston, a mutual friend of Kirby and Chase organized a welcome dinner at El Tiempo, the famous local tex mex spot in town, to introduce Chase to some of her friends. Kirby, fashionably tardy from the driving range, arrived with a gift bag brimming with cowboy napkins and a Texan tallboy beer to welcome Chase to town. Kirby sat down at the last seat at the table which happened to be directly across from Chase and, as they like to say, they began their love story over a plate of sizzling fajitas.
The ensuing months were a montage of Miami football games at Houston sport bars (accompanied by Kirby’s custom U shoes), Sunday afternoons at the polo fields, a comical zoo escapade that was almost ruined when Chase's phone with the tickets died 10 yards from the front gate, plenty of trips to the Memorial Park driving range with a wine bottle tucked in Kirby's purse, Kirby mastering the art of Carolina shag dancing, and Chase's heartfelt request for Kirby to be his girlfriend.
By Christmas, Kirby's family both gifted and strongly encouraged Chase to embrace cowboy boots while Chase's family persuaded Kirby to add a few pieces of Clemson orange clothing to her closet. Over the past 2-3 years, Chase and Kirby have enjoyed plenty of adventures together, including running marathons in Nashville and Kiawah, sharing a birdie at Pebble Beach (Kirby's breakfast ball provision in effect), visiting each other's colleges for football games, celebrating birthdays to the nines (despite Chase’s plea for no birthday song), making a tradition out of attending The Players Tournament with Chase's parents every year, finishing a marathon through the Patagonia mountain range, and traveling through South America (which sparked momentary panic in Kirby's father's heart that an improptu propsal without prior consent was imminent).
In March of 2024, Chase brought Kirby back to Hermann Park and dropped a knee in the same spot as their first date. She said yes.
Now, the time has come for their best adventure yet—their wedding day!
They could not be more excited to share their wedding weekend with their closest family and freinds, so throw on your dancing shoes, and let the party begin!
